Work Text:

Life with Prapai was good. More than good. Prapai made Sky feel like he was living a fairytale, every day with the man being special. But despite the happiness Pai brought him, Sky still had bad days.

Days where everything felt like too much, when ghosts from the pasts haunted him. When all he wanted to do was curl into a ball and hide away from the entire world. During those days, P’Pai was just as perfect as the rest.

Right now there was nothing Sky wanted more than to let Prapai’s arms envelope him and shield him from every unwanted thought crossing through his mind. However Pai was currently on a business trip and wouldn’t be back at their safe haven for another two days.

Sky sat at his desk, struggling to concentrate as he tried to distract himself with school work. That used to be his tactic for years after what happened with Gun, and even at times during his childhood when his parents shouting voices echoed through the house. He would bury himself in some sort of distraction, usually that being homework, and focus fully on the task, blocking off everything else.

But when Prapai walked in his life he learnt to not shut out his feelings till he crashed out but instead talk about them, let them out. He learnt to rely on others and seek help when needed. The downside of that was that now, stuck in the condo by himself, with no one to tell him that everything would be okay, Sky felt himself spiralling.

His heart skipped a beat, whether from fear or hope he wasn’t sure, when he heard the sound of the doorbell ring. With the security at the bottom, there were few people who had access to the apartment complex without calling the condo first so Sky assumed the unexpected guest had to be Rain, deciding to check up on Sky after the classes he had missed.

After all it wasn’t often for Sky to skip school but when he woke up that morning with the overwhelming feeling of dread and anxiety, he knew the better option was to not test his state.

However Rain wasn’t the one that stood on the other side of the door.

“P’Pai!” Sky barely opened the door before he threw his arms around Prapai’s neck, burying his face in the crook between Pai’s neck and shoulder. It was an uncharacteristic move from his side, but today wasn’t his best day. Prapai brought one arm around him, a bouquet of flowers held in his hand, the other one steadily holding onto his suitcase and the bag he had with him.

“Hi baby,” Pai said, kissing the top of his boyfriend's head before leading the two of them inside the apartment.

“What are you doing home so early?” Sky asked, confusion laced with relief clear in his voice.

“A little birdy told me that you could do with a small cheer-me-up. So I managed to wrap up all my necessary work in the morning and catch the last flight to Bangkok. I got some things on my way back too. How are you feeling Sky?”

Sky shrugged, the smile on his face from seeing Prapai falling slightly.

“What did Rain tell you?”

“Nothing much, just that today wasn’t a good day. So I got you flowers, and a happy basket,” Prapai lifted the bag he was holding and placed it on the kitchen counter by the entrance, revealing the contents of it. “I picked out the new volume of your manga, a few of your favourite snacks, there’s food to be delivered soon and I got some candles and scented oils for us to enjoy in a bath later.”

“P’Pai… You didn’t have to do all that… You know that just you being here earlier than I expected is enough for me.”

“I know,” Pai smiled, snaking his hand back around Sky’s waist. “But I wanted to do something nice for you too. You know I will never pass up an opportunity to spoil you. And the bath is also just me selfishly wanting to enjoy some relaxing hot water with you in my arms.”

“You know me so well,” Sky said, laying his head against Prapai’s shoulder. “I love you.”

“I love you too sweetheart. Do you want to go sit down for a minute? You can tell me what you’ve been up to and wind down a bit while we wait for the food. Then we can take a long bath with snacks and music and candles and later cuddle in bed?”

Sky smiled, the feelings that tried to suffocate him all day easing out faintly at the suggestion.

“That sounds perfect.”
