Rain, rain, rain.
Raindrops fall like tears.
“Don't be afraid, miss!"
Susan holds trembling Maud in her arms, trying to calm her down. Near the chapel, her mother's grave. After the walk Susan accompanied her on. How beautiful she is, how fragile. Pale skin, gray sky reflected in her eyes. Susan trembles too, but not out of fear. She would love to kiss Maud.
“You're cold,” says Maud suddenly, unfastening her shawl, wrapping it around them both, taking her hand.
Susan looks up, puzzled. The rain lashs at her face. But she feels nothing but the tingling in her fingers.
