Work Text:
Today is another normal day for Doyeon. Waking up with Yoojung and Somi screaming, then hearing a door open and then absolute silence. The one who opened the door was most likely Nayoung, she is the only person who with one stare can shut up those kids (Doyeon is aware she the same age as Yoojung and only two years older than Somi but that is not the point.)
Doyeon climbs down her bed and goes to the kitchen to eat something. On her way, while still feeling tired, she finds Somi in the kitchen. She feels like she lost her appetite, but it is too late, Somi already spotted her.
"Doyeon!" Somi exclaims and hugs her. She is so clingy, Doyeon thinks.
"It's too early for this Somi." Doyeon just accepts her face and lets the younger girl hug her because she knows she won't let go (she has gone through this many times already).
"It isn't, and at least I didn't jump like last time," says Somi reminding Doyeon how she ended up on the floor with Somi suffocating her.
"True, but seriously let me go, I need to grab something to eat and then take a shower," says Doyeon freeing herself from Somi's arms and doing what she said she would do. She completely ignores the sad eyes Somi gives her.
Somi listens, even though she misses the contact, and just continues eating her breakfast. She likes Doyeon so much that it hurts, it is the first time she feels such a strong feeling for someone, and she doesn’t know how to show her love for her crush. So being the extrovert she is, she acts on her feelings no matter what it tells her to do.
She is not blind and can tell it is not always welcome, Doyeon voices her annoyance with no qualms, but it is also a straightforward way to gain attention from her crush. The problem is that she's slowly noticing how Doyeon feels bothered with her presence, and that makes her sad.
It was another morning with just Doyeon and Somi in the kitchen.
The tall girl is trying to make fried eggs, but Somi keeps trying to hug her from behind and moving Doyeon. That obviously makes Doyeon angry and every time she feels the girl near her, she pushes her away from her.
Somi looks like a kicked puppy whenever Doyeon does that, however, it doesn’t keep her from stopping. "Doyeon just let me hug you," says a sulky Somi.
"No Somi, I'm cooking, and I swear I have almost dropped the pan with eggs like ten time because of you," replies Doyeon clearly bothered by the girl’s constant need of attention.
"But-."
"No buts, just go to your room and bother Jieqiong or Mina, seriously, you choose the worst moments to be affectionate with me" says Doyeon being a little too blunt for Somi's liking and feeling a little hurt.
"Okay," says Somi sounding defeated, which Doyeon doesn’t perceive at all.
"Oh, wait Somi," says Doyeon and Somi immediately turns around, hoping for Doyeon to say, 'don't leave', or just anything.
"What?"
"If you see Yoojung tell her I also made some eggs for her, thanks, and now you can go," commands Doyeon, and Somi undergoes the terrible feeling of getting her hope crushed. Naturally Doyeon would make her find Yoojung, they are almost like a couple, which Somi prays they are not.
"Okay captain," she answers back trying to sound like her hyper self, even though she isn’t feeling happy at all.
From the living room Sejeong, Mina and Yeonjung were watching this whole scene.
"Wow Doyeon is harsh," says Sejeong.
"Yeah but Somi should find a less annoying way to get Doyeon's attention," replies Mina.
"I feel bad for Som," comments Yeonjung.
"Should we help her out?" Sejeong asks, and they all nod. They will help Somi, and that might be for the better of for the worst. They all hope it isn't the latter.
A new day starts for Somi, and she could barely open her eyes because she only slept 2 hours. Unfortunately, she can't sleep more because today the eleven of them will begin practicing for their next full comeback. Which means seeing Doyeon, that leads to seeing her more often, and the bonus part from this is seeing her abdominal muscles, because she always wears crop tops. The younger girl doesn't complain, but sometimes it can be a little too distracting, and ends up with her messing up the choreography.
Being the last one to wake up from her room, she picks up the first clothes sees in her closet and takes a quick shower. After that, she goes to the kitchen and sees Jieqiong, Mina, Nayoung and Doyeon eating:
"Morning," says Somi still sleepy.
"Morning," they reply also sounding tired, they all had stuff to do yesterday, being in the same state of Somi.
"I could drink ten cups of coffee and I would still feel tired," says Jieqiong while yawning.
"Me too," says Mina.
"Come on, don't be so negative in our first day of preparing for the comeback," says Nayoung trying to give them energy, which clearly doesn’t work.
"I hope we don't stay for a whole day without sleeping like last time," says Doyeon referring when they practiced for Whatta Man.
"I don't think the choreography will be as hard as that one," says Somi joining the conversation as she sits next to Doyeon.
"We hope," says Mina.
"In 10 minutes, everyone should be ready to go to practice, so finish up everything and I will meet you in the car," says Nayoung in leader tone, she stands up and leaves the room. Everyone else quickly eats or get their things ready.
At the practice room Chungha takes the leader position from Nayoung.
"Okay I will divide you in pairs, that way you can help the other" instructs Chungha, who obviously doesn’t need a pair because she even did part of the choreography of this song (since she knows most of JYP's choreographers).
As time goes by, everyone is working with their pairs and making progress, except for one. Which is Somi and Doyeon.
Chungha noticed that Somi struggled with a few moves of the song, and she paired her up with Doyeon because she learned it almost immediately. Doyeon is an excellent teacher, the problem is Somi who gets distracted with anything.
Doyeon is irritated by Somi’s repetitive mistakes, she knows Somi is good at dancing, is she doing on purpose all those mistakes? Perhaps Somi is trying to bother her, like always.
Somi on the other side, is in heaven and hell at the same time. Heaven because she is getting a close look at Doyeon’s abs, and sometimes even feels hands on her hips because Doyeon is trying to fix her position. But hell at the same time, because she gets too absorbed into those things, and completely ignores what Doyeon told her to fix and continues repeating the same mistakes. Somi can easily tell the older girl is not happy.
"Somi seriously you are making more mistakes than Sohye during her pd101 days," says Doyeon after watching the other girl repeatedly make the same error.
"Sorry. I'm just distracted," Somi tries to explain.
"Distracted with what?" Asks Doyeon and Somi looks at her abs, but the next second she stares again at the taller girl’s eyes. There is no way Somi is going to admit that because she is almost drooling at her muscles she is getting distracted.
"I-I just didn't sleep enough. " Somi tries to lie, which doesn’t convince at all Doyeon, but she just lets it go.
"I think we won't make any progress if we continue, so let's just finish for now and eat something for dinner," Doyeon suggests sounding less angry than Somi expected, and instantly agrees with what she said. Spending time alone with Doyeon is something she could never miss.
They go to eat to a fast food place near their practice room and just talk about random things. Somi smiles like an idiot the whole time and is now grateful of her abstraction. Meanwhile, Doyeon thinks that even if it isn’t a special place or moment, for some reason really enjoys this time with Somi, more than she should, and that scares her.
Each passing day Doyeon finds herself craving Somi's 'annoying' actions, and if she doesn’t do it then Doyeon is the one trying to get her attention.
The first time it happens, it surprises Somi. She was in her room playing on her phone a game called 'love live' that she recently downloaded, and she hadn't gone out of her room because of it.
Out of nowhere, the door opens with so much force it bangs against the wall, which makes Somi physically jump and almost drop her phone from her hands. She glances from her bed at who just entered to her room and can’t really believe it was Doyeon who came looking for her.
"You haven't done anything during the whole day!" She screams and takes the blanket from Somi, who is still too shocked to react because this situation was almost absurd.
Once Doyeon takes her phone from her hands, she reacts. "Wait! I need to level up in the game and get a Maki card," Somi says whining about her game.
"Who cares, go outside and get some air," says Doyeon while opening the curtains, which causes Somi to squint her eyes.
"You are worse than my mom." Says Somi while still refusing to stand up.
"It's for your own good, stop complaining. I planned to go out and eat lunch with you, but if you really want to keep playing you can stay here alone," says Doyeon leaving the room smiling, perfectly knowing Somi will agree to go out.
"Wait no! Give 10 minutes to get ready!" And Somi runs to the bathroom to get changed.
Things go like this: Somi continues to annoys Doyeon, but now the older girl just couldn't get annoyed with the younger one. She finds her cute. Also, if Somi isn’t looking for Doyeon, then she is the one looking for Somi, a rare thing that began to get the attention of the other members, but they don’t say a thing. They don’t want to interfere with their relationship.
"You are again using the whole couch!" screams Doyeon to Somi.
"You can always sit on my lap," says Somi smirking. Lately she feels bolder, and instead of just hugging Doyeon, she tries to kiss her cheek, rest on her lap, hold her hand and stuff like that. Since the older girl never complains she persist doing that.
"I'm too tall for that, you will die suffocated by me," says Doyeon.
"You are only 5 centimeters taller than me, also I might be taller than you! I grew two centimeters last week," and Somi stands up, hugs Doyeon's waist and sits down making the taller girl go down with her and sit on her lap. Doyeon couldn’t help but yelp at the sensation of falling, thankfully Somi had surprising strength, catching her in place.
“Are you insane, warn me a little before doing that.” The blush is inevitable, and she wanted to sound angry, but it lacked the usual exasperated tone she used to reprimand Somi.
“It was all calculated, I would never put you at risk-“
"Can you two please get a room?” says Yeonjung shouting from the kitchen. “Both of you get so clingy, at first it was cute but you two have been like this for months now, so just confe-”
Sejeong stops her from finishing that sentence by covering her mouth and dragging her to their room.
"Don't mind her, bye!" Screams Sejeong while dragging Yeonjung out of the living room.
"That was..."
"Weird," Doyeon finishes Somi’s sentence. "But going back to earlier, are you sure I'm not heavy?"
"Completely sure, light as a feather," says Somi smiling and enjoying the warmth coming from Doyeon. Even if Doyeon weighted 100 kg she wouldn't mind.
They stay in silence for a while. Somi without intending to, she broods over something she's trying to avoid at all costs, perhaps talking with someone might help. Lately that is all she can think about.
"These months together passed so fast, soon we will have our first and last concert, and last day as a group." Somi voices aloud her thoughts. Doyeon turns a little to the side, enough to stare at Somi’s face, which revealed evident sadness in her eyes. And if she is being honest, she is sure she copying the younger girl’s expression.
"I understand what you mean. But we can still spend time with each other, and maybe in the future even have another comeback, or share a dorm," replies Doyeon trying to make her feel better.
"I’m sure being in different companies will not give us much time to meet.”
“Then we can text each other, and once we debut and have more free time we can meet. It is not like once we disband we will not be able to communicate with each other.”
Somi concedes, finding reason in what Doyeon says. “But I still need to do something before we disband," she confesses.
"And what's that?" Asks Doyeon.
"You will see the day of concert, just please, don't get mad." Doyeon is confused at Somi's request but just agrees, after all what's the worst she could do?
They continue in that position until Doyeon fell asleep with her head on Somi's shoulder and with her arms around her waist. Somi feels her legs go numb, but she doesn’t want to wake up the sleeping girl, she likes the closeness they have, too much for her own good. She solves the problem by also falling asleep.
It is the second day of the concert, and the opening song is “Very Very Very.” It was Nayoung’s idea to lighten up the mood of a disbandment concert with their most energetic song as the start.
Doyeon doesn’t want to finish because it means that tomorrow will be their last day of performing as a group, and their last day of seeing the eleven of them together because most of their companies want them back to take the opportunity of their fame.
They are dancing the last part of the song, in which they make two lines, make a pose with the member besides you and then go to the side.
Doyeon hugs Sejeong and walks to her place, when she gets there she notices Somi going behind her, and instead of staying in her place she goes to Doyeon. Somi fixes her hair and Doyeon opens her arms thinking Somi is going to give her a hug.
What she doesn’t expect is the soft pair of lips on her own that made her feel electricity through her whole body, and that lasts less than she would have wanted. Smiling like an idiot she just stares at Somi who also smiles brightly. Somi holds her hand, moving Doyeon to the center to finish the song, right, they are in the middle of performing a song. Wait, why did Somi decide to kiss Doyeon in public, of all places with is the worst.
After finishing the song Doyeon now takes Somi's hand and drags her to a place without anyone to interrupt them. The adrenaline in her body and the euphoria that kiss gave her made her much bolder than usual. Once they reach an empty changing room, Doyeon almost traps Somi against a wall, with her arms at each side of the girl, she asks her:
"I really need to know what the meaning of that kiss was.”
"Isn't it obvious? I like you Doyeon," Somi confesses, finally saying the words she had kept for so long.
Doyeon hadn’t been thinking, so the words truly took her by surprise. "I... oh god this is so cliché," says Doyeon feeling embarrassed.
"Kissing you in the middle of our concert is cliché? You know, my other option was singing you a song," Somi admits, remembering that Sejeong suggested her that.
"Then I'm glad you did this instead of the other, and in case you haven't noticed. I also like you." Doyeon tries to be brave again, instead as soon as the words come out of her mouth she turns red, Somi smiles at the sight of that and cups her flushed face with her hands.
"Aw, you are so cute," she says as she leans closer properly kisses Doyeon. Now being slow and enjoying every second of it.
They separate with their faces burning and heavy breathing.
"You know, the others might be looking for us," says Doyeon who is now giving some kisses to Somi's neck.
"If you expect me to say, 'let's go back' you are so wrong," says Somi while closing her eyes because the last months of constant physical contact with Doyeon did not prepare her for this.
"You are so cute," Doyeon mumbles. She leaves Somi's neck, and goes for a third kiss, but before she could someone interrupts them.
"Can you please make out another time? We are about to perform our next song and we can't be late or have to cover up a hickey," reprimands Yoojung who finally found them.
"Way to ruin our moment," says Doyeon annoyed.
"No one sane enough decides to have a moment in the middle of their own concert, but anyways, let's go lovebirds," says Yoojung pushing Somi and Doyeon.
The couple just smiled at each other.
Now they have something to look forward after the concert and after their disbandment. Now things didn't seem so grim anymore.
