Chapter Text

PHOEBE'S TALE

A Frontier Gentleman/Imaginos Crossover

ACT ONE: SCENE ONE

NARRATOR/J.B. KENDALL
My name is J.B. Kendall. I'm a
reporter for the London Times. And
have I got a story to tell you.
About a month ago, I was
investigating an explosion I heard
in the mountains. It was then that
I had discovered the mysterious
Desdinova and her even more unusual
daughter Phoebe. They've returned
to wherever it was they came from
now, and life has gone back to it's
usual dullness.

SFX: Saloon Brawl. Lots of fist on face and torso and
breaking furniture. Sounds of breaking glass.

KENDALL
I guess the upstairs room isn't for
rent either.

MILLER
Duck!

SFX: Sound of window breaking. Presumably someone has swung
out through it on the now heavily damaged chandelier.

MILLER
I think you'd better leave before
Howard gets here. He's not going to
be too happy when he finds out you
been asking about stuff that ain't
your business.

KENDALL
I'm a reporter. That's what I do.

MILLER
Well, lookee what just breezed in.

SFX: Sudden silence.

NARRATOR/J.B. KENDALL
I looked. What just breezed in was
a woman. She was tall and slim. And
her face was somehow familiar. Like
I had seen her somewhere. But for
the life of me, I couldn't think of
where.

PHOEBE
J.B. Kendall?

KENDALL
I'm J.B. Kendall. But I'm afraid I
don't quite rememember meeting you.

PHOEBE
We met a month ago from your point
of view. My name's Phoebe.

NARRATOR/J.B. KENDALL
I stared at her in astonishment.
The Phoebe I had met a month ago
was only six years old. This was a
full grown woman.

KENDALL
Phoebe? Little Phoebe? But how?

PHOEBE
Only a month may have gone by for
you, but it's been a lot longer for
me. Can we go someplace more
private? I've got a lot to tell
you.

KENDALL
I was trying to get a room here,
but I think I offended them.

NARRATOR/J.B. KENDALL
She looked around the trashed room
and nodded in agreement.

PHOEBE
I don't know what you said to them,
and I don't think I want to. Come.
Let's take a walk. The night air
will clear your head.

KENDALL
I'm not drunk.

PHOEBE
No. But brawls seldom aid in the
art of thinking.

NARRATOR/J.B. KENDALL
She had a point. So I followed her
out of the old saloon. She was
right. The first breath of fresh
air outside that musty and smokey
old place made me feel a whole lot
better.

KENDALL
So, how'd your...uh...mother?

PHOEBE
She's doing well. She's really busy
taking care of the population of
Plutonia. She'd Foreign Minister
there.

KENDALL
So, what happened when you guys
returned to your ship?

PHOEBE
Oh, have I got a tale to tell you.

KENDALL
I'm listening.

PHOEBE
Well...
