Work Text:
"Hey Yuhyeon-ah, isn't your hair get in the way when you're in the dungeons?" The short haired woman asked, leaning back on the expensive leather sofa while staring at the bright ceiling.
It's a pretty sunny day in South Korea, a peaceful one at that. As rare as it was, the country definitely had its share of a normal and slow day— no dungeon break, no robbery nor hunters causing ruckus. It's definitely a slow day.
Well at least that was for the majority because a slow day means a day where the head of each guild had to stop their strenuous activity as an S-Class and just sit tight in front of a desk doing paperwork.
Yes, paperwork.
As menial of a task it was, and as much as how strong of a hunter she was, Yuhyeon found herself in the back of said desk, hunched over and doing a load of paperwork.
"...It is, Unnie."
Yuhyeon sighed as she was already putting aside another stack of papers that apparently needed her supervision and signature, before shooting the older Han a sheepish look.
"I didn't get to think about it at all, honestly."
By now Yujin fully focused her attention on her younger sister, Peace seated on her lap as Chirpy- well, chirping away, oblivious from the outside world while changing the tv channel with its tiny beak.
"Why not cut it short though?"
She said, nudging at her own short hair, whose end reached the back of her neck, enveloping it in a lovely and more feminine way than a tomboy hairstyle supposed to do.
Yuhyeon shakes her head.
"Apparently my hair is also a part of my body, ordinary scissors and heating tools didn't work because of my fire resistance."
She explained, by now looking like she had already accepted that her hair will continue to grow and she already gave up trying any proper styling with it.
And Yujin didn't think that was the case.
Because she knew that her little sister dislikes getting her hair done by strangers, she will kicks up a fuss whenever she tried to bring her to a salon to style her hair when they were little— the fuss in question was Yuhyeon looked at her with the gaze of a kicked puppy, leaving her with no other choice but to surrender to her beloved sister's wish. Also, that punk probably saw no importance in her appearance to bother enough to style it herself.
And Yujin's instinct as an older sister, as well as a second parent to her, will do whatever it takes - not even her sister's S-Class durability or her fire resistance could be a hindrance to her - to make sure this hair issue will not become an obstacle for her dearest sister.
Hell, she would even ask Myungwoo with a special favour to get a specialised scissor that was at least SS or L rank just to cut and style her sister's hair.
And she wasn't even joking. She will talk to Myungwoo for the scissors later, but now she has more pressing matters at hand.
But she also didn't want to force her standard on Yuhyeon and push her into something she didn't want to do, so Yujin shoved all the previous thinking into the back of her head, now contemplating something else. Another solution that didn't involve scissors, salons, or heating tools.
If a normal scissor didn't work then...
Yujin stood up abruptly, immediately apologising for dropping Peace who snored on her lap, now fully woke up and alert that he's been thrown off to the floor. The horned fire lion whined slightly before Yujin patted the soft fur and marched to her room without saying a word, leaving Yuhyeon confused at her older sister's antics.
Not long after, Yujin came back and making a beeline towards Yuhyeon's desk which the latter had been seated since morning, tending to some paperworks as the Haeyeon guild leader, courtesy of Yujin fussing over her negligent task and eventually make the younger one relenting and did her paperwork— which she would gladly burn down to the ground in an instant if not for her sister's stern gaze.
"Yuhyeon-ah."
Yujin called, now standing behind her little sister, the owner of the name turns back only to be met with her sister's grin, an expression that only could be described as confusion is making itself known on the younger's face - making the older one squealing 'adorable!' in her mind.
"Yes, Unnie?"
Yuhyeon parroted, her gaze still didn't leave her sister who's grin now looks like it could hurt her cheeks.
"Ta-da!"
With an exaggerated move, Yujin pulled out what could be seen as a small plastic bag with colourful cartoons printed on it.
"Is that..."
"Yes! It's a rubber band, I got it from Yerim when we went shopping last week and I ended up braided her hair with this, I'm glad I got some left on my pocket." Yujin's smile broadened more as she beckoned Yuhyeon to turn her back on her.
The younger was still flabbergasted, but still complies with her sister's request. And when a smooth and soft hand touched Yuhyeon's hair, she instinctively leaned back to the familiar touch, a habit that was difficult to break since childhood.
Yujin brushed Yuhyeon's smooth dark-brown hair that was similar to hers with a delicate move as if touching something so fragile— which Yuhyeon is far from. She is an S-Rank for a reason.
The soft touch melted the tension which Yuhyeon didn't even know she had, and she found herself relaxing at her sister's feather-like-touch against her scalp as she brushed stray strands with her fingers.
She gently closed her eyes, she swore she could fell asleep right then and there.
But then she felt the wayward strands of dark brown being separated into some parts as Yujin's delicate fingers wove it into small braids before she tied it with a sky blue rubber band. Then she gathered the strands into a big one as Yujin then tied it with a bigger rubber band that was the same colour of Irin's skin. She then gathered the rest of the long flowing hair and brushed it with her fingers. Yuhyeon felt a slight tug at her roots from the action but she almost didn't feel them at all and the sensation itself almost felt soothing, relaxing in a way that chased away all her headache.
Besides, no matter how sleepy she'd become, she had been always paying extra attention to everything her sister was doing.
A moment later and her chair is spun around and she immediately met with a beaming Yujin as the short-haired female looked over at her work on her little sister's hair with proud expression and a look that full of fondness that make Yuhyeon's heart might've burst out with warmth.
The effect that her older sister had on her is truly unbelievable.
"What did you do, Unnie?"
She asked, her right hand placed awkwardly on the back of her head, feeling two small bump of a braid and a larger one as the breeze coiled around her now exposed neck.
It felt refreshing.
And new.
She decided she liked this change and stared at her older sister with curiosity, as Yujin answered her question with a voice full of mirth and excitement as if she was winning a lottery.
"If we can't cut or remodel your hair, then we can just tie it!" She remarked. "Now you wouldn't be annoyed by stray hair when you're in the dungeons." Yujin handed her her own phone which the younger one accepted immediately.
Yuhyeon then looked at her reflection on the phone, true to her prediction, she apparently had two small braids that were tied together with the rest of her hair to a ponytail, she acknowledged that she looks a bit more youthful than her usual appearance.
Yujin chuckled, then went to softly pinch her younger sister's cheek. "You're so pretty, and adorable too."
Yuhyeon instantly frowned, but the red blush that slowly crept up from the back of her ears did not prove the statement that came out from her mouth next.
"....I'm not."
Yujin ignored her refusal as she went back to the sofa in Yuhyeon's office, picking up Peace and Chirpy before she stood up.
"I will put the kids in their room first, you can finish those papers while I prepare lunch."
Reluctantly, Yuhyeon nodded, she didn't have an ounce of patience left anymore to tend for her paperwork and just wanted to spend the rest of the day with her sister. But if this is what it takes to be a good guild master that could make her sister proud, then Yuhyeon would gladly drown herself in a sea of paperwork.
....Or maybe she could do something that were equal to that, as she glanced to the stacked papers on her desk, looking as if it'll never be diminished.
Yuhyeon sighed.
She still had a long way to go.
