Work Text:
This is exactly what Gumpa feared. They had not done a mission in months as they waited for everything to relax and for the media to stop talking about it. After a lot of conversation, the gang had agreed they need to make a move. It was a simple job, terribly similar to the first mission they did with White. They just had to break into yet another empty house Tawi bought in the countryside, vandalise, and burn some important artworks, which were meant to go on display the day after, and get out. Everything was going as planned until it wasn't though.
One of Gumpas main concerns was if White and Sean would be able to stay focused on a mission together and they were until White got hurt. He was burning some of the art pieces when a guard came up behind him, he punched the back of his head causing him to stumble forward into the fire. He managed to catch himself before falling in but he got a really bad burn on his hand.
"White!! Where are you, we gotta go!!" White could hear Seans' voice as he ran around looking for him. White threw a punch at the guard doing his best to not injure his hand anymore. White almost sighed in relief when he saw Sean come up behind the guard placing a piece of fabric over his mouth making him lose consciousness.
"Come on we need to get out of here," Sean said taking White's good hand and pulling him towards the exit.
"What about the guard?" White asked and Sean groaned. Screw White and his caring heart. Sean couldn't help but get Deja vu from their first mission but things were different now. Sean has a reason to live now, they were officially dating. White wasn't pretending anymore. It was almost funny how different everything was.
Sean groaned grabbing the guard and nodding his head towards the door signalizing White to go first. White did as instructed with Sean following behind him.
"White, Sean what the fuck happened?!" Gram yelled rushing over to check the guard who Sean dropped on the floor going to tend to White's wound.
"Let's get out of here," Sean said ignoring Gram's question and leading White towards his bike.
"Oy get back here!!" A guard shouted running towards the group. Gram and Yok managed to get on their bikes and ride away but Seans was parked further off. He did his best to make sure White was running at his speed but White had always been slower. They had almost made it to the bike when they heard a gunshot. Sean froze in place as he began seeing red. He's not going to let his White die or even get hurt by that gun. He pulled white behind him shielding him with his body as the guards came charging at them. He managed to attack one causing him to pass out but was struggling with the other one. He wasn't sure where the gun was but neither of the guards was holding it which slightly eased his fear.
"White go to the bike!!" Sean yelled as he struggled with the guard. White's legs refused to move though as he looked around for anything he could use to help Sean until his eyes landed on a gun laying on the floor. White ran to grab it hitting the Guard on the back of the head. His first idea was to shoot him of course but he didn't think he could live with that. The guard fell to the ground also losing consciousness leaving the couple with Sean staring at White in silence. White's brain hadn't fully registered what just happened until he felts Sean's arms around him pulling him close to his chest.
"Thank god you're okay." His voice was muffled with his face hidden in White's hair.
"We should go..." White whispered. He really didn't want to let go of Sean but they risked being seen by more guards.
"Yeah..." Sean agreed though not letting go for a few more seconds.
"White, can you do something for me?" Sean asked earning a small nod from White.
"When we get on my bike hug me tight," Sean asked and White smiled placing a kiss on Seans' lips.
"Of course, let's get out of here," White said and Sean nodded walking towards the bike. The ride back to the garage was almost silent with White's arms wrapped tightly around Seans waist at all times. During the ride Sean would squirm away from Whites touch though every time white loosened his grip on Seans waist Sean would pull him closer again.
"White thank fuck." Black said running up to White and hugging him before he even had the chance to even take off his helmet.
"Are you okay, what did you do to your hand and head?" Black asked and White nodded hiding his hand behind his back. Sean took his own helmet off and walked up to White helping him take his helmet off as well.
"God dammit Sean you were meant to take care of him!!" Black yelled inspecting his brother. Sean was ready to argue back though White managed to start yelling at Black before he had the chance.
"I'm fine Black, I got caught by a guard and Sean helped me get out safely, if he wasn't there I probably would be behind bars by now." White defended as Sean took his burnt hand into his careful to not hurt him.
"I didn't take care of you enough look at your hand," Sean said and black groaned.
"Obviously not, White you're not going on any more missions without me." Black said causing White to go wide-eyed.
"What?! I'm not a child I can take care of myself!" White argued crossing his arms.
"Look at your hand then say that again." Black pointed out and White groaned.
"I burned my hand a bit, so what. Plus, it's not Seans job to babysit me. Black, you forget I managed to do your job in the gang for months without outing myself to most of the gang. I'm not a baby." White reminded, Black was slightly taken aback White rarely argued with him and obviously Sean wasn't expecting the outburst either leaving him standing next to White in shock. Sean was pretty sure this was the first time he'd actually seen Black speechless.
"White, Sean thank god!!" Gram said running up to the two and hugging them both. White smiled hugging him back though Sean just tensed up. He didn't like hugs. No. He didn't like hugs from people that weren't White.
"We're fine Gram nothing to worry about" White promised. As Yok rushed out as well.
"Sean, are you alright?" Gumpa asked catching White off guard. He hadn't even had the chance to make sure Sean wasn't hurt. He didn't see any scars on his face or anything but there was something off about him.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Sean said finally managing to get out of Grams grip and going into the garage presumably to his room.
"Did he get hurt as well?" Yok asked though White shook his head.
"I don't think so, but somethings definitely wrong." He pointed out and Black rolled his eyes.
"He said he's fine now let me see your hand." He instructed and White did as told though his eyes were glued to the door of the garage.
"Isn't it obvious?" Gram asked and White shook his head.
"White got hurt, Sean loves White. Sean is hurting because he let his precious White get hurt." Gram explained causing White to blush.
"He loves me..." White whispered under his breath smiling at the idea.
"God even I'll admit that Sean is sickeningly in love with you, how do you not know this?" Black groaned at the mesmerised look on his twin’s face.
"We've never really said that we love each other..." White explained and Yok sighed.
"Of course you haven't, Sean can't communicate with words that's common knowledge to anyone who knows him...." Gumpa started and Yok nodded.
"But he lets you into his room," Yok said.
"And he actually likes to hug you instead of pushing you away." Gram added.
"Your face literally unlocks his phone; He never lets anyone touch his phone." Black continued the list.
"The list can go on it's just how he shows his love to you, you're just too blind to see it." Gumpa explained and White groaned.
"How am I meant to show him that I love him back then?" White asked and Black rolled his eyes.
"God this is fucking disgusting..." Black complained though Yok just smiled at White.
"Let's start with, go make sure he's actually okay and then reassure him that what happened to you isn't his fault." Yok said and White nodded rushing inside after Sean. He found Sean training, punching the bag hanging in front of him.
"Sean..." White started walking up to him.
"Hmmm" He answered not taking his eyes off the punching back.
"Did you get hurt?" White asked hoping to start up a conversation as he sat down on the side of the couch watching Sean.
"I'm fine, did you bandage your hand up?" Sean asked throwing a final punch before turning around to look at White.
"I don't think it needs bandaging." White simply said looking down at his hand
"Are you sure you're alright?" White asked as Sean walked over taking his burnt hand into his and inspecting it.
"This definitely needs bandaging White, wait here let me go grab the stuff" Sean said about to walk away but before he could White grabbed his wrist
"Answer my question, Sean." He simply said hoping to make it clear.
"Just a small cut on my side, I'll be fine." Sean finally said kissing White's forehead.
"I'll be back in just a second." White smiled as he watched Sean walk away. He sat for a few minutes watching in silence. One of the main thoughts in his mind was how bad the cut on Sean's side was. Sean had a habit of toning down his injuries to the point of danger. Whether it was a physics injury or an illness he would always tone it down. For example, once when he had a fever he kept working for a week before White finally forced him to the doctor. Turned out he had a really bad infection and had to have an IV for five days. Or after an old mission he landed on his leg bad but carried on walking on it for over two weeks. Once again White sent him to the doctor which ended up with Sean on bed rest for a few days.
"Pass me your hand." Sean instructed as he took out some disinfectant. White flinched as Sean sanitized through burn and wrapped it.
"Sean, show me your cut" White finally broke the silence.
"I told you I'll be fine don't worry about it."
"Sean..." White started though being cut off with a small kiss.
"White. Relax." Sean said though White shook his head.
"No. Not this time. Show me your cut please." White asked and Sean sighed turning and lifting his shirt revealing a huge open cut on his side slowly dripping in blood.
"Sean!! What the fuck, you said it was small!" White yelled as Sean dropped his shirt down flinching when the fabric touched the cut though nothing could hurt him more than the tone of Whites voice at that moment. It was a mix of disappointment, anger, and sadness all in one. And the fact that Sean was the reason for all of those emotions hurt him dearly because he never wanted to hurt White. He loved him more than he loved anything else.
"Gumpa!! Black!!" White yelled as he was about to go get them from outside.
"White, White im fine you don't have to...."
"What's going on now?" Black asked as he walked in with Gumpa behind him.
"Show them. Fucking. Show. Them." White said with a threatening voice staring at Sean.
"It's not that bad." Sean said and Gumpa rolled his eyes.
"Sean..." White warned. White had Sean wrapped around his finger he honestly didn't notice how much power he held over him. So, with that Sean lifted his shirt.
"Fucking hell, what happened?" Black asked walking up to him.
"A guard I had to fight before I went to look for White had a knife." Sean simply said not making eye contact with White. He wouldn't be able to handle the hurt look on his face, every time Sean was sick or hurt White would have this look in his eyes like he was feeling the pain he was.
"I don't know how to stitch cuts, one of you need to do it." White said and Gumpa sighed.
"I'll do it." Black said before Gumpa could. Whites' eyes widened looking from Black to Sean. Black hated Sean, or at least he definitely didn't like him.
"Come on then, we need to fix that as fast as possible before it gets infected." Black said nudging his head towards the couch for him to sit down. Sean did as told taking off his shirt revealing the cut.
"White can you go grab me some water please?" Black asked earning a nod from White.
"Why are you helping me?" Sean asked as Black started cleaning his cut.
"Because White is sickeningly in love with you and this is my way of showing him that I'm not planning to kill you." Black explained as he took out everything, he needed to stitch up Sean's cut. A small smile grew on Seans face as he looked up to see White slowly making his way back into the room with a bottle of water in his hand and a bottle of juice in his hands.
"That being said if you hurt him, I will make you die a painful death." Black threatened though Seans smile didn't fade instead it just brightened as White got closer.
"Here you go." White said passing the water to Black then turning his full attention to Sean.
"How bad is it?" His eyes were glued to Sean though they all knew that the question was targeted to Black.
"It's not too bad but you were right it definitely needs stitches." Black said as White opened the bottle of juice and placing it to Seans lips for him to drink.
"My hands are fine you know; I can drink by myself." Sean reminded and White shrugged taking a sip of the drink himself.
"Okay don't move, I don't wanna fuck this up." Black said as he started stitching up the cut. Sean flinched at first though his face soon went stone cold with close to no expression. White on the other hand took Seans hand into his holding onto him for his dear life.
"And I'm done" Black said as he passed white a bandage.
"Bandage him up, would you?" Black asked and White nodded taking the bandage from Black.
"Definitely watch the stitches as well so like try not to move around too much." Black instructed as he walked out the room not even letting Sean thank him
“Can you stand up alright?" White asked and Sean did putting his arm around Whites waist and pulling him in closer and placing a soft kiss on his cheek.
"You worry too much you know?" Sean asked and White rolled his eyes.
"no. You don't take care of yourself enough." Sean shrugged with a small smirk though White didn't really find it funny, Sean would say that he was his reason to live but on days like this when he questioned if that was true. The fact that Sean was so willing to just jump into danger to protect him made him feel sick to his stomach. He couldn't imagine what his life would be like without Sean, what it would be like when he woke up in the morning without Seans arms wrapped around him, going on missions on his own bike instead of on the back of Seans. It terrified him.
"I love you Sean, I can't lose you." White confessed looking up at Sean who was already looking down at him in shock.
"I get that danger is part of your life and I'm not asking you to change how you live but im asking for you to tell me when you get hurt and to stop throwing yourself into danger when it's not needed. I'm asking for you to ask for help when you need it because I'm scared that one day I'll wake up and you won't be next to me." Tears began falling from Whites eyes though they were quickly wiped by Sean who held Whites face in his hands.
"I'm sorry White, I promise you I'll tell you when I get hurt from now on, I also promise that you will never wake up without me by your side as long as you want it." Sean promised placing a small kiss on Whites lips.
"I love you too White, I always will, but I cannot promise that I'll stop throwing myself into danger if it means I'm protecting you because losing me is better than losing you." Sean whispered against Whites lips too scared that when he moves away far enough from him, he'll see a pain in Whites eyes he's not prepared to see.
"Sean..." White began but got cut off.
"White, don't ask me to stop protecting you because I can't, I almost lost you once, and ever since I got you back, I swore to myself that I won't lose you again. And you know me. I don't break my promises." Sean explained finally moving away so he could see Whites face. Tears threatened to spill from both of their eyes. They both said what they needed to say leaving them both simply looking into each other's eyes.
"Let's go up to my room, I'll put on my bandaging and we'll go to bed." Sean simply said though White shook his head.
"I'll bandage you up." White corrected Causing Sean to chuckle.
"Fine, you can bandage me up then we'll go to bed." Sean said as they started walking up to his room. White managed to quickly bandage him up both quickly getting into bed.
"Sean..." White whispered earning a hum from the taller man.
"You'll be here when I wake up right?" White asked looking up at him.
"I promise." Sean confirmed earning a soft smile from White who placed his head on the elder’s chest letting his heartbeat lull him to sleep keeping Seans promise close to his heart.
