It was a brisk summer afternoon when Malleus decided to visit the Ramshackle prefect. Classes were done for the day and he didn't have any club activities to attend to, he said goodbye to Sebeck and Lilia and assured them that he would be fine and meet both of then at dinner time.
As his companion made their way back to campus he started his trek to the dorms, he didn't have a clear idea of why he desired to meet with the prefect, he was just fascinated by the child of man who came from such a distant place but already made his own world feel so complete, how she was so brave and fearless whet so selfless and caring, slowly carving her own place in a school filled with such distinct personalities.
But what surprised him the most was the fact that she wasn't afraid of him, even after learning his true identity and seeing his power she was still at his side and still called him a friend.
As he finally arrived at the old dorm he could clearly see the small changes that the prefect had so painstainkilling made, the grass around the place was cut, the windows were replaced and it just felt more homely. He was just about to knock on the door when it was opened by an out of breath Yuu clad in a red apron.
"Oh, hello Malleus, I didn't know you were coming around."
"Indeed it wasn't in my afternoon plans to pass here but I felt compelled to, I missed you and wanted to know if you would enjoy going on a walk with me."
As he said that he noticed how odd she reacted to his words, almost as if she was trying to guard the door from him.
"But if you're not up to it I can go, I see how my presence is affecting you."
As he turned to leave he felt her hand holding onto his arm.
"No!! Wait! I don't want you to leave, it is just that I was preparing something kinda as a surprise for you and then you appeared and kinda ended the whole surprise plan, but I also wanted to find you because I didn't know if you were really going to enjoy the surprise so you also didn't ruin the plan."
"Oh, a surprise for me? It has been so long since a child of man has given me something, I would be incredibly happy if you'd let me see it!"
After that Yuu let him into the dorm where he could see an oven with a small bubbling pot and a freezer where he assumed was the kitchen.
"So, what is the surprise, if I may ask."
"Well, I was trying to make home-made ice-cream because I just wanted to eat it,but then I mentioned it to Lilia and he said it was your favorite treat, so I decided to make some more to give it to you just like, as a gift."
Yuu said as from the freezer she extracted two pots and put them in the small table next to it, she also got two spoons and offered one to him.
"I hope it is good, bon appetit!"
Malleus scooped a bit of the substance into his mouth, it was cold and creamy and delightfully sweet and he soon went for another bite,and another and another one.
"I'm so glad you liked it !!" Said the prefect with a smile.
"I can give you the recipe if you want to make it another time by yourself."
But as he slid the paper onto his pocket he knew he would be coming back to the old dorm more than once during the school year even if it was only to help Yuu with small task or just to talk because now he felt as if he wouldn't be able to stay away from her.
