Aftermath

Summary:

Jaime went to King's Landing to rescue Cersei from the impending danger that is brought by Daenerys. But their reunion only confirmed Cersei's evil nature and that she's incapable of loving other people other than herself. To mend his status, Jaime brought Cersei to Daenerys as a token to seek the Queen's pardon. As he travels back to Winterfell, he cannot stop himself from dreaming about Brienne's touch. But when he finally arrived at Winterfell, he discovered that the woman he's been dreaming about for the past few moons has found comfort from another man, Tormund Giantsbane.

*Just like everyone, I am also very disappointed towards Season 8 especially Jaime & Brienne's story. To cope up with their traumatic ending, I wrote a story that is dedicated to them. Enjoy!

Chapter Text

"Come back" Brienne muttered as she kneels at the courtyard as she watched Jaime gallop away from her. She cannot comprehend what's happening, one moment they were looking into each other's eyes as Brienne carefully unbuttons his shirt. The next thing she know, she's all alone on the bed where they just shared a momentous event. Brienne did everything to beg Jaime from leaving her. But I love you. Brienne thought as she kneels at the courtyard, the cold winds is starting to freeze and she attempts to tighten her thin black robe around her body. She knows she have to stand up and go back inside where a flaming fireplace is waiting for her. It was as if she lost her control over her body, the grief of losing Jaime over Cersei is more painful than any wound that she felt.

Her thoughts was disturbed when she heard footsteps. She thought it was Jaime, 'Maybe he's coming back for me, maybe he realized that going back to King's Landing is a bad decision.' But her hope was shattered when she saw another man. Tormund Giantsbane stood before her with a concern look in his eyes. "Are you okay?" he asked as he offered his hand towards her. Brienne looked at him, the moonlight barely sheds light to his red hair. 'Kissed by fire' as wildings described people like him. Brienne looked away to wipe her tears away said "I am okay" and took Tormund's hand.

Brienne was grateful for the heat that she felt upon taking Tormund's hand. "Let's go inside then" Tormund said as he tightens Brienne's robe around her. "You're bloody freezing". She ignored him as they walked back inside. They sat in front the hearth where Brienne was knighted which seemed like a long time ago. Brienne can't bring herself go back inside her bedchamber, not when she was just spent the last hour making love to Jaime. "Here" she heard Tormund said as he handed out a goblet filled with liquor. "You need to drink up, feel the heat inside your body to make up with the freezing time you spent outside."

"Thank you" she replied. As soon as the she drank the liquor she felt the heat in her throat. "What happened with you and the Kingslayer?" Brienne looked at him with a sharp eyes but she eventually gave in and tears started pouring in. Her loud sobs filled the room and Tormund came to her side and offered a sympathetic look.
