Chapter Text

Dilan Westbrook, a deeply misunderstood and complicated man (Pinterest mood board edgy 15 year old) was walking through the forest to take some nice pictures for those 17 likes on Instagram he was so fond of.

The photo shoot was going well so far. Lots of standing dead trees and leaves fallen on the ground. Very mediative about the circle of life and the connection between decay and growth and other things he was paraphrasing from things he read on the internet.

He spotted a small pond and went to look at it. He wasn’t going to take any pictures at it because it didn’t play into his whole persona. It was very pretty though.

During his wistful observation of the placid water he noticed some blue sparkly fluid flouting above the surface of the water. He could see the bottom of this fluid in the reflection of the surface of the water. It was incredibly debilitating to look at actually. Because it was so completely impossible.

He swept a stick under the pool to make sure that the imposable happing was actually happing and impossible. It was.

He did as much as he tried to get away from it he did have a human brain. And it told him he must touch the fluid. He has to pick it up. Has to. So he put his hand in between the two surfaces and lifted up. And sure enough the fluid was above his hand when he looked at it. Then suddenly. Even more terrifying than this existence being forced upon him. The fluid sunk into his hand.

He would try to claw it out but he was too frozen in fear. He stood there looking at his hand for a few more seconds before he screamed at the top of his lungs. Now his scream was loud but it couldn’t move the water in front of him as it had done just now.

It was like he had made one wave in a wave pool. He reacted his hand out towards the water and suddenly a small piece of it became solid before him. He could move it around by moving his hand. The power was a bit like holding a gun for the first time when his dad made him that time.

He had to raise his hand up to see if he could make a water spout. Sure enough the water rose like a power fountain, but stood there in space until he brought his hand back down.

Now he always thought he was different, with varying degrees of veneer and exaggeration anyway. But with this it seemed even more than he ha thought was confirmed. It took him a while of sitting and thinking to come close to dealing with it. He had to move eventually though because otherwise his parents would come looking for him on this camping trip of theirs.
