After mom pass away. And Tucker got engaged with Vanessa. And Riles move away from the *wheeler boy*
“I can’t keep doing this Ben. I’m still in love with you. And Danny is in love with me, we can’t keep doing this. we're only hurting each other
“C’mon riles Emma loves you. She need you. We need you” what I wanted to say is I need you too.
“I can’t ben I have to leave. I love Emma. And I still gonna be part of her life, I’m her godmother and you know very well that whatever she need I’m here for her. Not matter what. But I really have to make my own way and find my happiness. We can’t keep living like this. Is not fair for you or for Danny and speciality me”
Then Riley move to Chicago. She find a great job over there, she made it to a great law firm. Everything was going great for her,
Even without me or Danny around she find a way to be happy with fitch. They were living together, when fitch was not saving life in Africa.
We were happy for her. I was happy for her. But still we felt alone just the 3 of us.
New York didn’t feel like home anymore. Danny was getting better offers in another teams, but they were just temporarily. And had to move a lot and often from city to city or town to town. His coach told him that this would be just for a while. But it was hard on Danny to be far away from Emma, from his family.
“I don’t know for how much longer I can take it Ben” Danny told me one evening that he come back home, from saint Louis. He was playing for the blues there.
“I really don’t know for how long I can keep it, I’m lonely all the time. I miss Emma so much, I’ve losing so much time with her, she already is starting to walk, and I’m not here to see it. I should have been here to watch her first step”.
Ben was feeling really bad already with this situation too. It was not easy to manage baby/work/house by himself. It was more easy when Danny was around and could help with Emma or house chore.
So he lie a little. So Danny didn’t felt so left out.
“It was not really walking walking. It was more of a stand-drunk step kinda of situation”
“But still I was not here for it”
Danny didn’t say anything else the entire night. He went straight to his room and sleep the whole evening.
Ben did come a few time to his door to check on him. But he never got to knock the door.
Mostly because I didn’t know what to say.
He didn’t have nothing to say without sounding selfish.
Yeah Emma was growing so fast, every day was a new adventure with her. A new sound. A new word a new laugh.
And it was hard for Ben too. He didn’t have someone to share that happiness of his daughter first moments.
Bonnie was not there to Chers those moments with him or her granddaughter.
He actually feel like he didn’t have anyone when Danny was gone.
Another round to Danny door but again he didn’t knock the door..
The next morning Danny was already up and having breakfast with Emma. He didn’t felt Danny coming to his bedroom to take Emma.
“God!! do I really need that sleep” he thought to himself. He felt rested, something that only happen when Danny is around. He was the only one he could trust Emma with.
“Hey Danny G-morning. I didn’t felt when you came for Emma, thanks for let me sleep for a longer time. Thanks man I really need that”
Danny just nod. Mouth full of cereal but still having a goofy smile.
“Don’t mentioned bro. I need to spend every second available that I have free with Emma. I don’t want her to forget my face. With me so much gone. She would be in college the next time I get to see her”
That’s when Ben got the idea and without even thinking it twice He say
“What if Emma and I follow you where you are playing. So you don’t have to feel like you’re missing everything. And plus man with your help everything is so easy. Emma love you. And I’m sure she is getting bored of me. You are the fun one, of the two of us” what Emma just giggle like she was agreeing with him.
“Plus I can get a bartender job anywhere. New York without you or mom is not home”
Danny was in total shock. For a moment Ben didn’t know what to do. Total silent for a moment and then Danny was looking at Emma then looking at Ben. Again Emma. And his eyes. His big blue eyes got even bigger. And huge drop of tear Start to roll down.
“Are you sure Ben…. Are.. you sure. You want to go with me..?” A big smile came from his big brother that still had tear running down his cheeks.
“Yeah man I’m 100% sure. I’m ready to start over, like say this is not home without you in here”
He didn’t realice when or how but he was covered with his brother embrace. Arms hugging him tight and his head resting in his neck.
“Thank you Ben. I love you so much man” Danny whisper next to Bens neck causing a shivered in all his body.
“Wow that feel oddly good” Ben thought to himself.
For this Emma was so excited too like she know what was happening. She was playing with her food and giggle with that scene of his dad and his uncle hugging..
so he totally ignored what his brother just make him feel.
He was just so happy that they could be together again, He miss his family too.
The day come when they will finally leave town. Danny flew a few days early to settle down their new place. But mostly to have set the basic on Emma bedroom.
Ben had to deal with few thing before leaving town. That including saying bye to tucker. And of course Vanessa.
He didn’t have a great relationship with tucker right now. Mostly because of Vanessa. She still hate the guts of Ben.
But they both care for tucker. So they were civilized.
Tucker had the entire day to be with Emma by himself. While Ben was packing the rest of his thing from his apartment. Well technically it was still tucker apartment. But tucker move in with Vanessa when they got together again. “Is better like this Ben. Emma know this place as her house. I don’t want her to have to adapt to a new place” that what tucker say when he move out.
There was not much things left in there from them, Danny already send everything of their belongings to saint Louis. There was just left a few belongings that ben could not trust to the moving company.
A small trunk with full of pictures of themselves that Bonnie had. Pictures of Danny and him when they were kids.
Pictures of mom and dad when they were young and seem happy.
And a suitcase full of her mom clothing. It was silly but he thought maybe Emma would want some of her grandmother dresses.
“Mom had a crazy wardrobe. But she always look amazing” Ben thought.
Could be that he was not ready to give them up. Or maybe hoping he could still hold from his mom a little longer. Maybe Emma was just a silly excuse to keep those dresses.
To keep those memory living longer with him….
Tucker got back with Emma around noon.
And as soon he got her in the babysit they start driving to their new home.
“14 hours 36 min and 952.5 miles until we go to see you uncle Danny Emma” Ben told to the child. And Emma got hysterical In her carseat
Giggle and giving big applause in excited to see her uncle.
They start driving to a new adventure to a new start. Even if was just for a couple of months. He was excited too. To be in a new city. To be with his big brother again.
Maybe he could start to feel like he had a family again.
Maybe he could finally get some luck in his life again.
