“Oh, come on Norg! Ya have to tell me!” XS danced around him, using her speed to move just barely out of his way as he walked.
“I have to tell you nothing, Jen. I know Vi put you up to this, and even if she didn’t, you’d tell her anyway, and while Violet can keep secrets, this doesn’t feel like one she’d want to keep.” Lyle smiled, amused as XS whined.
“Aww, come on! We’re getting a new Legionnaire after you made that science deal with the Feds, are they gonna be some sort of liaison or something? Is it gonna be one of your science buddies? Old school friend? You gotta tell me something! ” Now she was totally pouting. She had come to a stop in front of him, arms crossed as she looked down at his face. Curse her being tall.
“Fine. They’re really smart, and they’ve been doing science since they were a child.” That should keep her busy, up until she realises he didn’t actually tell her anything, which happened to be when he got to the corner. He heard her groan, and then she was in front of him again.
“That’s not fair! All of your friends are science prodigies! That’s literally how we met!”
“Yup. But you asked me to tell you something, and I did. That’s the information you can take back to Violet. Have fun!”
He could hear her groan again as he walked away.
