Inspired by Hospital Playlist (Ik-Jun x Song-Hwa)

-----

W sighed as he closed his laptop finally and rested his eyes on the heels of his palms.

It was past 1:30 am and he was the only one still working. The rest had left the office long ago like sane people with lives to live.

W stretched, packed his bag and walked to the elevator.

---

He was busy scrolling on his phone for takeaway restaurants that may still be open when he stepped into the lobby.

"Win" called a soft voice. W looked up in surprise.

"Vachi, what are you still doing here? I thought you left hours ago" said W, surprised to see him.

---

"You were so nervous about the presentation, I couldn't leave you by yourself. I've got food" said B, holding up two bags.

W felt his tiredness leaving him like a sponge squeezed dry.

"You're the best roomie ever. Fuck, I could kiss you right now" said W.

B laughed lightly.

---

They sat on their favourite bench right outside the office. The shrubs and trees seemed eerie in the dead of the night. But W felt safe, like he always did with B.

"Did you manage to finish the deck?" asked B. W nodded and bit into his burger.

"And the forecast model?" asked B

---

"Mhmm" said W, munching happily.

B smiled at the sight and shook his head. He reached out his thumb to wipe mayo off the corner of W's lips.

"Here" said B, handing W a drink. W took a long sip and sighed with contentment.

"I've done the best I can, Vachi. But I'm still worried"

---

"Don't be. You're going to kill it tomorrow. I just know it" said B reassuringly.

And when he said it that way, W had no choice but to believe him truly and completely.

They finished eating and W watched as B jogged away behind some trees to the trash bin. He felt a twinge.

---

W breathed a lot easier with he saw B jogging back to him.

"Let's go home" said B, and they walked to the parking lot.

They got into W's car that they'd come together to the office in.

"You should have come up, Vachi. The seats in the lobby are so uncomfortable" chided W.

---

B shook his head as he clicked the seatbelt into place. "You don't like being distracted when you're working, right? And the chairs in the lobby are great for your posture."

"Thanks for staying, Vachi. You always know what I need, bestie" said W, gratefully.

B nodded silently.

---

B looked out the window because W driving was his kryptonite.

The younger looked sexier than anyone had a right to be after an 18 hour work day, with his rolled up sleeves showing off his toned, muscled arms.

B had been in love with his best friend for a while now.

---

A few months ago, he'd mustered up his courage to talk to W.

"I like someone. Someone who means the world to me, who knows me better than I do. I want to confess to him, but it will change things between us forever. Should I?"

W had looked into his eyes with an odd expression.

---

B had never felt more scared than he did then. When W stared at him thoughtfully, pondering over his question and giving it his complete attention.

B saw something click in W's eyes.

"Don't. Not right now. Some relationships are too precious to risk if you're not both sure."

---

And B had nodded in understanding, relieved. It wasn't a rejection.

"Okay. Let's watch the rain instead" he'd said, and they had gone back to sipping coffee in their balcony as they watched the clouds unburdening themselves, blurring the twinkling evening lights of the city.

---

"Vachi, did you see that?" W's voice brought B back to the present.

B peered up at the black sky through the windshield. "The lightning? I did"

"3,2,1" counted W and smiled with satisfaction as the rumbling thunder followed right on cue.

B huffed a chuckle. W looked so happy.

---

If you asked him, B could tell you the exact moment he'd fallen for W.

It was when W had printed out his resignation letter to throw on their manager's face when she'd fired B for being gay.

"You don't get me without him, you homophobic hag" he'd declared, grabbing B's hand.

---

W had walked out dramatically, dragging B behind him, to applause from their teammates.

"Never be ashamed of who you are, Vachi. I'm so proud of you" W'd said when B had tried to apologize. "You're the best friend I have, and the office would have sucked without you anyway."

---

"Vachi, what if we don't get the funding?" said W softly.

When W had decided to start his own venture, B had quit his job without a second thought to join him. Velastro was the manifestation of their dreams and ambitions.

"Whatever happens, it will be for the best, Win" said B.

---
W sighed. B always knew the right thing to say.

When W's parents had expressed disappointment in him for quitting his secure corporate gig to start out on his own, B'd said "You have the right to follow your heart. They have the right to worry about you. Make up with them, Win."

---

W'd talked to his parents and his dad had even become their first investor.

W sighed again.

"What are you really worried about, Win?" asked B gently. He knew something was gnawing at W.

"I don't want to let you down" whispered W, not looking at B.

"Win..." said B, surprised.

---

W was glad B didn't dismiss his words. He loved that about B - how he never treated W's thoughts lightly. How he always gave them his consideration.

"You're doing your best and giving it all you've got, Win. I couldn't ask for more" said B after a few moments.

A raindrop fell.

---

B remembered how heartbroken W had been when their first app had glitched. Customers made payments but the orders never reached the servers.

Angry customers left scathing reviews about poor service and even called them cheats. Velastro's stocks rotted in the warehouse.

---

They had both personally called every single customer to fulfill orders and even delivered parcels themselves.

They'd learned from their mistakes and worked hard to ensure they never disappointed their customers again.

They had built a brand they could be proud of. Together.

---

"Can we stop to watch the rain for a bit?" asked Win, switching on the indicators.

Raindrops glittered like diamonds on the corners of the windshield and rendered a bokeh effect on the scenes outside the windows.

The sights and sounds of the world were muted inside the car.

---

They sat watching the rain, cradling steaming cups of convenience store coffee.

Just them and their closeness and their warmth.

"Are you cold?" asked B when W let out a shuddering breath.

"I'm shy so I'm going to say this only once, Vachi. Listen carefully" said Win slowly.

---

B turned to gaze at him the way he always did. W shook his head.

"I can't do this with you looking at me like that" he mumbled, hands closed tight around his coffee cup, eyes glued to the windshield.

B turned away, his heart thumping crazily. W closed his eyes.

---

"I want to say this now because I don't know what will happen in the morning. We may become millionaires or we may go broke.

Neither outcome worries me because I'll still have you, Vachi. And that's all I'll ever want.

I love you, Bright Vachirawit Chivaree. Irrevocably so."

---

"I don't want you to think my feelings are tied to the fate of our business. That's why I wanted to say this now.

No matter what happens, I'll love you the same. Actually more with every passing second. Like I have for a while now" continued W, blushing pink, eyes screwed shut.

---

W felt his courage wavering. He rushed through his words.

"I don't know if I was the one you wanted to confess to that time. I wasn't sure if I was right for you then, Vachi. But I'm sure now. I'll love you the way you deserve to be loved. Treat you like the prince you are. I.."

---

W opened his eyes as he heard a sniffle. He turned to B, who was looking at W like he'd hung the sun and the moon and the stars in the sky for B.

His eyes were brimming with unshed tears and he was speechless.

"Fuck, is it not me? The one you like? I'm sorry, Vachi" panicked W.

---

B carefully picked the cup out of W's hands and placed it in the cup holder.

He gathered W's face in both hands and kissed him, pouring all his love and longing for W into the union of their lips.

Their mouths moulded to each other's shape, like they were always meant to be.

---

W smiled into the kiss, his hand running up B's arm into his soft hair.

They kissed for a long time because words wouldn't suffice to convey what B wanted to say.

Their breaths and lips and tongues collided and claimed the other for themselves.

At long last they parted.

---

The faint pitter-patter of raindrops on the roof matched the many small fluttering kisses B placed on W's face - his forehead, his eyes, his nose, his cheeks, his beautiful lips that B never wanted to stop kissing.

"Of course it's you, Win. It's always been you. I love you."
