    Summary

    The reading list for the college course I'm not teaching about Steve/Bucky, fandom, queerness, and the nature of storytelling. Also includes an element of how Steve/Bucky fic, when taken as parts of a whole instead of separate and disparate works, creates the impression of a well-traveled path, where individual fics might stray at different places but still largely hit the same landmarks and lead to the same place. It gives them, well. A certain inevitability.

    An excerpt from my DMs:
    There's no heterosexual equivalent of the love story of Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes. It isn't possible to tell a story like theirs with a single author. A huge part of why Steve and Bucky are compelling is that their stories are told communally, in conversation, in thousands of ways, through thousands of lenses and angles and focuses, giving them dimension and depth not possible through a single work or author

    Furthermore, the communal and unregulated nature of their story allows them to have a sexual aspect that adds depth rather than reduces it and permits the exploration of sex, kink, intimacy, and trauma in ways nearly impossible through traditional media and publishing

    Summary

    A general genre of Mando-focused Star Wars fic, outside the continuity of The Mandalorian, that I have trouble articulating. Most, but not all, of them have outsider(s) being introduced to Mando culture. Sometimes the outsider is a Jedi and it's a mutual culture crash course. Some, but not all, are focused on Jaster Mereel's tenure as Mandalore. Some, but not all, have Jedi/Mando romance. I am just comparing paint swatches over here.

    Summary

    Hey canon I know you're busy maintaining a breakneck pace to keep attention off of Izuku's unreliable narration re: establishing himself as The Pillar of Peace in high school but there should be more fallout from, among other things:

    Izuku's decade of isolation, bullying, and abusive "friends"
    Bakugou's temper and suicide baiting
    Middle school ignoring both
    Aizawa misunderstanding Izuku's ineptitude
    1A having multiple traumatic experiences
    Etc.

    Edit 5- 31- 2024: I understand that it's a teen show and therefore not about to include the therapy the kids need for the PTSD that they have but it's lazy to drop emotional threads like this and also it's weird and uncomfortable to have characters seem to ignore or not notice conflict between their peers
