The dew beater, (Deudinge) from one of the many "the names of the hare in English" a mediaeval poem. Fans of the translations by Albert Ross and Seamus Heaney will know there were plenty to choose from: many are equally charming from the hedge frisker, the wood cat, the stag of the stubble, others are... less flattering.
