Summary
One internalized misunderstanding was all it took to set the universe on the path of mutually assured destruction. After it all, the Emperor and the shattered remnants of Malcador’s soul connect in the Warp. While drifting within an anguished, forced concept of reversal, the main resignation is that Chaos’ parasitism was underestimated. It was so pitifully obvious after the fact.
The second is they needed a third person all along. They needed the person that The Emperor purposely left behind. An old, old “friend”, his complete opposite, and possibly the only person coming close to matching him in age. The Emperor failed to correlate his omnipotence with her omnipresence the first time, but now, there were no shifting visions of the future to muddle his judgment. There would be no third chance, but it wouldn't be needed.
tl;dr: Big-E and Mal break (and then fix) the timeline to right their wrongs. Their solution is their autistic perpetual friend that Big-E has periodically been running into since his conception. Totally, completely unrelated; The Emperor decides that the Primarchs should have a mother-figure this time around…and that he should make good on past promises.

Olruggio scoffed. “No. I mean I was seeing this girl sometime ago anyway, you know.”
Not really. A disaster of a fling that ended with her walking out mid hookup. There were more attempts. They didn’t go anywhere.
“I didn’t ask if you were seeing anyone Olly.” Qifrey reminded him, smug. “But if you did, good for you.”
Dick. Olruggio wanted to reach for that ashen gray hair and pull as hard as he could, then he remembered about the we’re open part, fixating on that.
“He just lets you… sleep with whoever you want?”
“He just wants me. He can have me. But if I want something else,” Qifrey murmured, his foot trailing up Olruggio’s leg. “I can have it."
Returning to the atelier means working alongside Qifrey again — strictly as colleagues. Except Qifrey has moved on, built a life Olruggio doesn't recognize, and somehow that's the part he can't leave alone.

Henry finally opening up his blacksmith shop, he meets Bartosch along the way. They tried to connect, but Henry has a hard time moving on.
Hans struggles the most, and even more so when Hanush refuses to hand over Hans's rightful inheritance. He found himself lost, even with the help of Jitka. It wasn't until Radzig, pitching an idea, suggesting he help rebuild Skalitz with him. He agreed, in hopes this would bring Henry back to him.
Hans realized he had to make big sacrifices if him and Henry would ever be together again.
