The whole world knew about the rivalry between the Kooks and the Pogues, or more specifically between their lead singers, Kiara Carrera and JJ Maybank.
For two years they've been feuding. Calling each other out in interviews, making fun of each other on stage, even a few lyrics were theorised to be about each other.
That's why everyone is shocked when out of nowhere, JJ defends Kiara on Twitter.
That's why JJ and Kiara themselves are shocked when they wake up the next morning to the news that their managers had come to some kind of agreement to take advantage of all the publicity.

JJ shrugs. He has to close his eyes for a few seconds, even the dimmed light becoming too much now that he has overdone it. “It’s okay. Everyone assumes that."
