It all ends with a city set ablaze. The sick and the dying congregate on streets of ash, the plague grants equality in death alone. None can save it anymore; no inquisitor or military could defeat an enemy which cares not for human rule and routine. And the healer calls out, give me one more chance. The director watches with pity or compassion, humouring the poor soul yet again.
I can do this. I will do this. I can save them. Just let me try one more time!
The clock turns back in a dead city, and the play begins again.

When Daniil first meets Artemy - half-man, half-bull, and entirely unenthused about being the subject of his scientific curiosity - he thinks he's made just the sort of sensational discovery that could save his laboratory. When he tries to study Artemy's rut, however, everything falls to pieces. Artemy, in that instinct-crazed state, claims him as a favoured mate, publicly humiliating him and exposing the well-kept secret of his gender to the entire town.
