Ilya came to with no memory of the past month, rushing at his own slumped figure only to pass through like smoke. As he watched himself sit up, there were only two things he could be sure of:
One, he was outside of his body with no way back.
Two, the body in question was still very much alive, and someone or something had taken the wheel in his place.
Before he could even try to make sense of the revelation, he was overwhelmed with a certainty that if he stuck around for much longer, something irreversible would happen. He fled.
