Mistakes and choices were made in the past and future, and now there are Four Warriors of Light who could all easily take center stage and be the hero. However, one does appear to shine brighter than the others, perhaps that's whom the story is meant for?
Even then, having FOUR Warriors of Light can't be a bad thing, right? The established timeline won't change that much...

Daniel has nothing to his name besides busting a minor drug syndicate downtown, subsequently getting a permanent ‘kick me (I’ll moan)’ sign on his back, and several tapes containing the bleak life stories of every unfortunate soul to cross paths with him.
When his memories begin to distort, he is driven to finally leave San Francisco in an attempt to fuck up his life further, or at least rid himself of the unshakable feeling of being watched.
With each day he blacks out and wakes up somewhere unfamiliar, he’s left with an audio tape containing the (practically useless) clues to piece together what’s happening to him, that is, until he gets his hands on a camera.
