It took her death for Shin to realise how much Lu meant to him.
So when she comes back, things begin to change in a way he could’ve never expected."It’s not your fault Shin."
He doesn’t respond. Aoi Sakamoto’s attempts at consolation weren’t going to work this time, Shin knew he messed up. He knew he should have gone after her, he knew he should have never listened to her and let her run off into danger like that. All he can do is stare blankly ahead of him, his face expressionless and his heartbeat thumping in chest. The walls of the moving ambulance van seem like they’re closing in on him, taunting him that he can’t leave, that he can’t do anything about this now, that it’s too late to help and this burden of responsibility will now forever rest upon his shoulders.
"Why is Shin sad? What happened? Where's Lu?" Hana Sakamoto tugs on her mother's sleeve, staring up at her with innocent curiosity in her eyes.

Nagumo Yoichi's mind is the only one that has ever been silent.
He is also, by every available metric, the most dangerous variable Shin has ever had the misfortune of being unable to ignore. He shows up at the shop with no good reason and stays too long. When Shin runs, he follows. Neither of them is sure why yet.
Shin tells himself it's annoying. He's wrong, and he knows it, and he keeps telling himself anyway.
Nagumo tells himself he has it under control. He is also wrong.

In reality, what it really was, was long glances passing inside jokes, locking pinkies on the train, and pictures of cats sent to each other with the tagline "literally us"."
"Despite the summers torment, the two are content to sit like that. The pinkies of the free hands sat in the space between them pressed into each other. Not interlocking, unwilling to create another pocket of hot air in the already sweltering room, but pressed against each other. The confirmation that the others presence is something soothing."
"Natsuki can't tell if he's worked up from arousal or blind hatred. He makes quick work of grabbing the carton from the bottom of Shin's stupidly deep back pocket. He makes sure to squeeze it with much more force than necessary, hopefully crushing a few of the cancer ridden sticks, before he pulls back to lock eyes with the other again."
Or: The air conditioning in the JCC dorms is broken, so Natsuki and Mafuyu spend the summer living with Shin and the Sakamoto's. It goes about as well as you'd expect.

Asakura Shin has no idea how he got here. All he remembered was that he was closing up the store with Lu and the next moment, he was suddenly in a graveyard.
To make matters worse than suddenly being in a graveyard, he got a former member of the Order pinning him down to the grass with a blade on his throat and bloodlust so thick that it was suffocating him.
“Hey,” Nagumo’s voice was soft, but hearing it sent a chill down Shin’s spine because right now, the man sounded pissed. “I must have looked like a pretty easy target these days, hmm?” He muttered, seeming to be talking to himself than to Shin.
“I’m curious, how did you do it? Even I couldn’t create such a perfect replica. This appearance is when Shin’s twenty-one, isn’t it?” Nagumo’s tone suddenly regained his usual airiness with a hint of jokingness to it, yet this huge change of attitude only made it worse for Shin.
Forget being pissed, Nagumo was furious.
As if suddenly finding himself six years in the future wasn’t bad enough, Shin was pretty sure his boyfriend in the future was going to murder him in the most brutal and painful way possible.
All on Valentine's Day, by the way.
