Summary
Driver keeps running into his next door neighbor, a teacher at the nearby middle school. One night he notices his neighbor being upset, despite not wanting to get personally involved in other's lives again, he asks what's troubling him. A quick introduction ensues but the teacher leaves to answer a phone call. Finding himself intrigued, Driver stays up to make sure the teacher returns home safe. After that encounter they keep bumping into each other with Driver struggling to not get attached and fall for one of his neighbors. Again.

Grace switched on the lights pointing toward the moon. Both the window and the screen showed the same thing. The moon was so red it practically glowed.
“Not quite, bud. It looks like… blood.”

Then comes knocking the unknown unknowns, throwing Grace into a vacuum devoid of stars and planets, humanity eating itself and an ocean of blood. Typical Tuesday.
