The nether used to be lush and rich with resources as the piglins and dwarves and gnomes worked side by side to mine the gold and quartz in the realm. When the corruption started to take over, they had no choice but to flee. It just so happens, the portal closest to the main fleeing point connected directly to the cave on the mountain of Rivendell's territory.

Xornoth was very protective over Scott, to the point where they ignored Exor's orders to go back to Rivindell, saving their little brother from their parents. Aeor has now seemingly forgotten about Scott, seeing as he's (unknowingly) a corrupt prince, due to his brother being the new king.
A certain cod took a liking to the prince, yet Xornoth suspects his intentions aren't as pure as they seem. After all, Elves and Merfolk have been enemies for centuries.
