Summary
Adam Faulkner-Stanheight never thought he’d die at 27, yet he sat in a dirty bathroom in who-knows-where waiting for that cold hand to touch him. That never came. He was found and released from the dingy place, hospitalized temporarily with a bullet wound in his shoulder and a whole lot of bruising on his ankle. Dr. Lawrence Gordon’s escape was simpler, but left him without a foot at the age of 40. The two must now adjust to a life as survivors of a Jigsaw killer trap and attempt to navigate the issues that come with the trauma associated with it as well as their newfound bond.

Lawrence stared thoughtfully at Adam’s hand between them. He wanted to be part of that bubble Adam could understand. “You’re scared?”
Adam shut his eyes. “Yeah. Yes, I’m scared.” He squinted at the floor, searching for the right set of words. His eyes met Lawrence’s as he spoke, “I feel like I never left that bathroom.”
Blood pounded in Lawrence’s ears. This was the first time Adam had outright acknowledged what had happened between them. And yet, something clicked in the back of Lawrence’s mind. Adam was supposed to be dead. He should have faded in and out of consciousness until he could no longer stave off the hunger, or dehydration, or blood loss, and was left with nothing, not even the memory of his own name.
So what did he have now? When everything had been stripped away, but by some mistake of the universe electricity continued to flow through his body? “You died in the trap,” Lawrence finally said. “I left you to die.”
