She could tell - by the way he stretched before exercising, got straight to it without warming up, didn’t calibrate the machine properly for his height and, oh, yes, his absolutely terrible posture.
Arguably, she could let it be. She could just focus on her own training, or even just call someone from the staff to show the kid the ropes.

It was difficult for Rogue to see what was in this cage. There were too many people surrounding it, and she felt caught up in the high of the crowd. It was suffocating, in a way. It was claustrophobic in another. More than anything, it was terrifying. All of that together made it exhilarating. She could feel a buzz in her bones, and she could feel her cheeks burning as she smiled more widely than she had in what felt like years. She looked up, hardly even remembering that she had closed her eyes until she opened them.
A pair of dark, golden, human eyes stared back at her, and Rogue felt the exhilaration in her blood turn ice cold.

The relief had gotten the better of both of them, shaking as they embraced each other from the adrenaline coursing through their veins. He could feel the grin on Pope's face as he released a elated laugh into the fabric of JJ's shirt, pulling him tighter and breathing deeply, and he silently begged the universe to freeze time just so he could enjoy this moment for a little while longer.
John B was alive. Pope was in his arms. Those two facts amounted to a rare flash of sunshine in his shitty life.
