Summary
When the dragons flee the continent, Wooyoung chooses to stay behind in favor of finding his best friend, Yeosang, a unicorn he hasn't seen in many years. Wooyoung sets out on a long journey to recover his best friend and find out if they really are the last two of their kind, and ends up traveling the world and becoming entangled in human affairs along the way. But, no matter what, Wooyoung will go to the ends of the earth for Yeosang so long as he could be near him.

In case anyone is wondering, magic has a smell.
Magic has a lot of different smells, actually. Some magic smells like nature. Like rain or the ocean, like flowers or foliage, like turned earth. Some magic smells industrial, like oil or tar or burning rubber. Some magic smells like food. Like citrus and herbs, chocolate and coffee, or a home cooked meal.
In Seonghwa’s experience, the scent of a particular bit of magic can tell you a lot about what kind of magic it is, but all magic has some kind of smell attached to it, a scent that lingers around the person who conjured the magic or the person it’s intended to affect, and Hongjoong reeks of magic. -

Summary
Every ten years, the Golden Phoenix Tournament is held. And every ten years, a new king is crowned. It is a system that has worked smoothly for nearly three centuries, a solution to a tyrant that reigned over Eden with an iron fist. Now, there will be no consolidation of power that allows one person free reign over the kingdom. At the beginning of the current ruler’s tenth and final year as king, applicants are fielded throughout the winter and spring. At the beginning of the summer, the final competitors are brought to the capital to compete.
