No One Breaks, and No Breaks

Chapter 14: This is going to be a pain to clean up.

Summary:

2 chapters in a night! This one is a decent length too! Shouto has a nightmare, cause I like angst and it's what I write.

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Around 2:37am a scream rang through the apartment. Both pro’s made eye contact, practically flying out of bed. Aizawa quickly wrapped his capture weapon, preparing for anything. Hizashi just barely beat him out of the room, voice at the ready.

The voice sounded like Shouto, both heroes making their way straight to his room. Yamada to the front door to block off any potential attack and Shouto straight to the child. They had this formation down and planned.

Anyone coming in could be dealt with quickly by Hizashi’s voice quirk, and anyone attacking their kids would be quickly (and much more subtly) dealt with by Aizawa.

So they ran. Aizawa arrived in Shouto’s room (what was a few days ago a guest bedroom).

Fire and ice split and rounding up the walls. The boy in the middle staring at his hands as the flames and cold took over.

“Hizashi! Fire extinguisher!” Aizawa yelled across the apartment, quickly activating his own quirk and scooping up the boy, rushing out of the room and into the living room.

The boy let out a gasp and began spewing rehearsed apologies the moment he made contact, going stiff as a plank in his arms.

“It’s okay. It’s okay. I just needed to get you away from the fire, Shouto.” The man explained, watching as Hizashi rushed past them with the fire extinguisher. The blond mans eyes ran over them quickly, putting together the situation.

“I’ll clean up then help with him!” he yelled, the extinguisher doing its job.

“Please, don’t let me burn up like Touya-nii.” The boy muttered. “I’ll be good. Please, I’ll be good.”

Shouta didn’t think his heart could break anymore today. But he supposed his heartbreak limit restarts at midnight. Or the universe just hated letting him relax for a single moment.

“I won’t let anything happen to you Sho. Relax, you’re here. At UA. With Aizawa and Yamada. Eraserhead and Present Mic. It’s 2:40am, you were just sleeping.” The man explained, hand running through the boy’s hair.

“My ice isn’t working.”

“Yeah. That’s my quirk, I disable other people’s quirks. Do you think you can relax enough so I don’t have to do that?” Aizawa was really hoping the boy would say yes, his eyes were starting to burn.

The boy nodded, and Aizawa waited a moment before finally blinking. They seemed to be in the all clear. “Good job,” the man praised. God knew the kid didn’t get enough -if any- of that. “Did you have a bad dream?”

“Yes sir.”

Aizawa sighed at the use of sir but didn’t mention it. “Do you want to talk about it?”

“No sir.” The boy said quickly. Hands grasping each other. Tear marks still stained his face, a clear discomfort and fear stood over him.

“That’s all right. What about we get some hot coco and watch cartoons?” It had always seemed to do the trick with Eri on difficult nights. Aizawa was glad he had let Midnight have a girl’s night with her tonight. This was enough of a disaster as is, trying to explain it to a traumatized seven year old would have just made things more difficult.

The boy considered for a moment before nodding. Aizawa stood, putting a blanket over the dual haired boy’s shoulders and turning on the tv. He put on some kids cartoon about a dog. Shouto instantly locked in. “I’ll be right back. I’ll go make the coco.”

Aizawa put a pot with all the ingredients he needed over the stove. Making his way to check on Hizashi.

Hizashi stood, half the room white with ice and the other half with extinguisher fluff. “Wow.”

“We’re gonna need some new wallpaper.” The man joked from inside the room. “We caught it pretty quick though, not too much damage. He okay?”

“Yeah. Watching cartoons, I’ve got hot coco on the stove.”

Hizashi nodded at him. “Not sure what to do about the ice before it melts.”

Aizawa just shook his head towards the floor suppressing a grin. “I’m just relieved it was this and not Endeavor breaking in or something.”

“This we can fix. We can work on this. That man though? I’d be going to prison before we could do anything to help Shouto.” Hizashi threw out.

“Exactly.”

The men stood, staring at the destroyed room incredulously. It would have to wait until tomorrow. Aizawa had some students with detention and other demerits, maybe he could use them to help fix what was salvageable.

Yamada’s eyes tracked to the doorway where Todoroki stood, blanket draped over his shoulders and eyes wide. “I am sorry.” The boy said squeezing the blanket harshly in his small hands.

“I heard Aizawa had some hot coco cooking for us? And a cartoon?” Yamada said quickly trying to divert the boys attention. “Why don’t we go check that out?”

Both men walked out of the room, closing the door. Todoroki raised his arms towards Aizawa, who quickly scooped him up as they walked to the couch. Hizashi soon after brought in the hot coco, a ridiculous amount of whipped cream covering the top.

If Aizawa wasn’t sure Shouto wouldn’t be falling asleep regardless he’d be more critical about the sugar, but seeing the exited expression on his too-young student’s face was worth it.

They sat on the couch, Todoroki between them sipping slowly on the chocolate drink. Looking about as close to his age as they had seen since, well about ever. It wasn’t a full 20 minutes later before the boy was snoring against their arms. And not another hour till all three were out like a light.

Curled together, comfort swirling like the coco around the cup.

Notes:

I hope you all want hot coco as much as I do right now.

Notes:

Yay! A chapter done! Sorry it's so short, I didn't wanna get into more and have to stop it mid chapter.

Thank You! Have a good Day/Night!
